Protein – what and why
Protein – What and Why
By now, we all know how important protein is in relation to training and weight loss. Therefore, it's good to get a good dose of protein after a workout or as a snack to keep you full, so why not make it a little extra delicious? We've put together an easy and tasty recipe so you can treat yourself a little extra after a hard workout.
Protein is the building block of the body. Protein is used for building cells and tissues (including muscle tissue)
You will find the largest amounts of protein in meat, fish, and poultry as well as eggs and dairy products. If you eat healthily and variably, you can easily achieve the amount of protein you need throughout the day, but it can always be a good idea to supplement with protein powder if you're not getting enough through your diet or if you are trained/athletic.
As a general rule, it is recommended that ordinary people have an intake of 0.5-1 g/kg
For well-trained athletes, the number can be between 2-3 g/kg
We have created a recipe for a delicious protein shake. In this recipe, you will use WHEY protein powder and banana as a source of carbohydrates. This type of protein powder is quickly absorbed in the body and is therefore especially good after a workout when the body is more receptive to protein and carbohydrates.
Post workout shake
- 1 scoop of whey from Women’s Best
- About 100g of skyr or Greek yogurt
- Milk to desired consistency
- 1 small banana
